Streaming games platform debuts
A new video gaming system has been debued by ex-Quicktime developer, Steve Perlman, after spending 7 years in development.
The system, known as OnLive, claims to stream games seamlessly to either a Mac, PC or TV (with attached Onlive MicroConsole). They claim that “OnLive turns games into video data sent across the net to a hardware add-on, or software plug-in, which decompresses the data back into video”.
Sounds great huh? Well, I’m guessing that the proof will be in the pudding here. True HD supported graphics streamed in real-time sounds pretty audacious to me, especially in Australia.
They’ve already signed up the big content partners including EA, Ubisoft, Take2, Eidos, Atari, Codemasters, Epic and THQ to deliver games such as Burnout, Fear 2, Tomb Raider: Underworld and Crysis: Warhead.

‘Made For Each Other’ by Frito-Lay
Check out the latest offering from the good folk at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners for Frito-Lay. A cute, beautifully illustrated environment where the user’s task is to play match-maker between the chips and dips - hence the campaign, ‘Made for each other‘.
I had a lot of fun hunting around, interacting with the various characters and playing some of the hidden games. Some elements were slow to load, but hey, blame Australian infrastructure for that.
The combination of 2D and 3D illustration is really well done and the characterisation pretty cool. Some of the ‘blobs’ even reminded me a little of the ‘Sensibles‘ campaign for Spring Valley.
Digital bus stops - Cadbury goo the egg
Interactive bus shelter panels are nothing new - think bluetooth movie downloads, searchable maps and so on, but this game for Cadbury by Saatchi & Saatchi London takes it to the next level. What a great little branded time-waster. Surely there’ll be some great extensions to this idea in the future.

Great new microsite (Amnesia Razorfish) for Smirnoff titled, “It started with a mule” set in 1940’s LA. Save Ginger and win a trip to Hollywood is the general premise. Great visuals, nice integration of video and product.
Consider this
“Doctors who spent at least three hours a week playing video games made about 37 percent fewer mistakes in surgery.” True story.
Game / NAB and Socceroos
Clemenger Blue has worked with Digital pictures to design and build a ‘video-real’ Flash 3D game for the Socceroos and their involvement in the Asian Cup. It plays on the idea of goal celebrations and as such is titled Celebration Dance: Help our Socceroos perform. The game feels more like a consol-based piece with nice game-play, stunning graphics and quality sound.
Website / Super Pitch

Clever and amusing game (viral piece) targeted at the Ad industry full of in-jokes and character stereotyping (agency and client sides). The game puts you in charge of creating a presentation to one of three fictional clients. Take the Super Pitch challenge and see if you’ve got the talent to land the deal.
My only criticism is the amount of time-investement required to get the pitch rolling. From a brand point-of-view, Magnecote seems to be well represented. I’d be interested to know how the campaign performed. The game was developed by Hadrian’s Wall in chicago.

How ‘Get The Glass’ was built
Interesting process that first dealt with 3D and then moved to modelling and photography for better results. They also show some testing for pieces such as the dice and water. Visit the site
Next generation site
This is SUPERB! Very well thought out and executed. I’ll be interested to hear Christian’s views of how it was all done. Very “Invincibles” but to achieve this on the web and to get a client to fund it is a real piece of work.
Website / Frubalia - Uncle Tobys Roll-Ups

The guys over at Soap have launched Frubalia (working with Morph Marketing) to promote the rebranding of Uncle Tobys Roll-Ups.
Nice execution, engaging games (even for non-kids) and fast load-times. Cool stuff.
